Branded share links for clients

Pro-only, carries your practice branding — and stops working if your Pro plan lapses.

Known gap

This article describes something in the app that is missing, partly built, or advertised elsewhere and not actually available. It says what happens today and how to get the outcome by hand. Everything of this kind is listed on known gaps.

  1. How they differ from ordinary share links
  2. The thing to know before you send one
  3. Setting up your branding

Branded links are the practitioner version of chart sharing: a chart page carrying your practice name, logo, accent colour and contact details rather than ours. They require Pro.

The second row matters. A branded link recomputes the chart when your client opens it, so it always reflects the current record — useful if you correct a birth time after sending it.

The third row matters more. The branded link deliberately sends a hand-picked set of fields to the browser: the chart itself, and nothing else. Your client's birth date, time, coordinates, time zone, email address, tags and your session notes are never in the response. Someone inspecting the page cannot recover the birth data from it. That is the point of having a separate mechanism rather than reusing the ordinary share link.

The thing to know before you send one

If your Pro plan lapses, every branded link you have ever sent stops working. Not degrades to unbranded — stops. Your client gets a not-found page.

This applies whether you cancelled deliberately, a payment failed, or a gift or trial code expired. There is no grace period on the links and no warning sent to the people holding them.

We think that behaviour is defensible for a paid feature, but it is not obvious, and if you have sent branded links to twenty clients it is a bad way to find out. Two practical consequences:

  • If you are considering cancelling, send your clients a PDF of their one-sheet first.
  • If you rely on branded links in your practice, watch payment failures carefully — a declined card takes your client-facing links down with it.

This is on our known gaps list because the failure is silent at both ends.

Setting up your branding

Account → Branding, visible on Pro. Practice name, display name, logo, accent colour, website and contact email. It applies to branded links and branded one-sheets.
