A payment failed or your card was declined
What happens to your access, how many retries you get, and how to fix it.
On this page
At checkout
If the card is declined while you are subscribing, nothing is created and you are not charged. Try another card, or check with your bank — cross-border euro subscriptions are a common trigger for an automatic block, and one call usually clears it.
At renewal
If a renewal fails, Stripe retries over the following days and emails you each time. Your access continues during that window rather than being cut immediately.
If every retry fails, the subscription ends and your account drops to Free.
Fixing it
Account → Plan and billing → Manage plan opens the billing portal, where you can update the card. Once a valid card is on file the outstanding invoice is charged and your plan continues without a gap.
If the subscription has already ended, updating the card will not revive it — start a new subscription from the upgrade page.
What you lose while it is unpaid
Nothing, during the retry window. After it ends:
- Paid readings, Chart Details, transit tools and relationship charts lock.
- Charts, library and client records are not deleted.
- On Pro: every branded share link you issued stops working immediately. This is the one that hurts, because your clients see a not-found page and you may not notice. If you are on Pro, treat a failed-payment email as urgent.
Common causes worth checking first
- The card expired. Cards outlive the memory of having entered them.
- The bank blocked a recurring foreign-currency charge.
- The card has a spending limit that the yearly amount exceeds.
- The billing address on file no longer matches the card.
If you were charged but do not have access
Reload the app once. If it persists, write to us with the payment date and email — do not pay again.
