Your birth place is not in the list
How the place search works, what to do when your town is missing, and what it costs you.
This article describes something in the app that is missing, partly built, or advertised elsewhere and not actually available. It says what happens today and how to get the outcome by hand. Everything of this kind is listed on known gaps.

The place field is a search, not a free-text box, because the app needs coordinates and a historical time zone rather than a name. If your town is not offered, here is what is happening and what to do.
How the search works
Typing sends your search text — and only your search text — to a place-name service through our own server. Your birth date and time are never included. The service returns matching places with their coordinates and time zone, and you pick one.
If that service is unreachable or is not configured, the app quietly falls back to a small built-in table of major cities. That fallback keeps the form working, but it holds only a few dozen places, so smaller towns disappear from the results. If a search that used to work suddenly returns almost nothing, this is usually why — try again in a few minutes.
If your town is genuinely not listed
Pick the nearest larger town or city. For nearly every chart this changes nothing, and it is worth understanding why.
Distance affects two things:
- The time zone. As long as the nearby city was in the same zone — which it will be unless you were born very close to a zone border — this is unaffected.
- The house positions, which Human Design does not use.
The planetary longitudes that produce your gates and lines are calculated from the moment in time, not from where you stood on Earth. Moving thirty kilometres does not move the Sun into a different gate.
So: nearest town in the same country and time zone is a good answer. If you were born close to a national border, choose the side you were actually born on, because that is what determines the historical time-zone rules.
If the search returns nothing at all
Try the local spelling and the English one — the index carries both for most places, but not all. Try the country name after a comma. If it still fails, write to us with the place name and country and we will add it or cast the chart for you.
