I Ching hexagram

Chart structure

Each of the sixty-four gates corresponds to one hexagram of the I Ching, and each hexagram has six lines. That is where the gates and their lines come from. Human Design inherited the structure rather than the divinatory practice, so you do not need to consult the I Ching to read a chart, but the numbering is not arbitrary.
