Real charts, real people
Marisa T.’s storyFinding the right yes.
She took the promotion because it made sense on paper. Her body had been saying no for a year. Her chart finally explained the difference.
Winning on paper, hollow by Wednesday.
On paper, Marisa was winning. A senior role, more money, the title everyone had told her to want. And by Wednesday of every week she was empty. She sat in meeting after meeting feeling the energy drain out of her. She came home too tired to talk. She lay awake wired and exhausted at the same time. She told herself she was just tired. Or ungrateful. Or not trying hard enough. The truth she did not say out loud: she had wanted the promotion in theory, and dreaded it in her body, for almost a year.
Her yes was never in the pros-and-cons list.
Marisa is a Generator with a defined gut center — what Human Design calls Sacral authority. In plain terms: her real yes and no do not live in a list of pros and cons. They show up as a gut response, in the moment, in the body. A small lift when something is right. A quiet no when it is not. That response is the thing she is meant to trust. Looking back, the promotion had been a decision she made with her head. It looked right on paper and had nothing to do with what her gut would have told her, if she had stopped to check. She is also what is called a 2/4 profile, which is just a description of how she operates best: work she can get lost in on her own, brought to her through people who already know her, rather than a calendar full of performing.
She started checking with her gut first.
She started small. Before she committed to anything, she checked the first response in her body. A meeting request. A new project. A weekend plan. She noticed the immediate reaction instead of reasoning her way into a yes. Tested honestly, the promotion was a clear no. The sideways move into hands-on product work she had been quietly drawn to was a yes she could feel in her whole body. And the frustration she had carried for years stopped being a character flaw. It was information: this one is not yours. Respond, do not force.
Same person, a completely different week.
Same person, same energy, a completely different week. Marisa wakes up wanting to start her work instead of bracing against it. Most days she ends genuinely satisfied. She still has hard days, but now she trusts her own read. “I spent years talking myself out of my own gut to look successful,” she says. “Now I let it lead. My whole week feels different.”
