Roles
The functional roles certain gates carry inside a group.
7 terms
Originator
Gate 1
The Originator creates original expression - genuine, distinctively individual creative output that others orient around. Not following a template or refining existing forms: generating something genuinely new from the most authentic expression of the self. The Originator is not trying to be original. The originality is the natural output of being fully themselves. Gate 1 connects to Gate 8 in the Throat (the Channel of Inspiration, 1-8). The creative identity expresses directly through voice and contribution. When correct: the work is unmistakably individual. Others recognize it as genuine and find something in it that gives them permission to be more fully themselves.
Guide
Gate 7
The Guide knows where things are going and can communicate it in a way others can actually follow. Not through force or claimed authority, but through genuine orientation. Gate 7 is the role of the self in leadership - not domination, but direction. The Guide role emerges when someone is genuinely oriented in the right direction themselves. You cannot guide others somewhere you are not actually pointed. Gate 7 connects to Gate 31 in the Throat via the Channel of the Alpha: the directional sense (G Center) connects to the voice that can express it (Throat).
Assimilator
Gate 10
The Assimilator embodies correct behavior. Not teaching it, not preaching it - living it. Gate 10 is the behavior of the self in the now: how the self acts, moment to moment, when it is genuinely being itself. The Assimilator integrates authentic behavior into their own life and becomes a living demonstration of it. Others are influenced not by what the Assimilator says but by what they see and feel in the Assimilator's presence and conduct. This is a deeply non-verbal role. The influence operates below the level of language.
Motivator
Gate 27
The Motivator/Nurturer cares for and nourishes others. Provides what is needed for growth, development, and survival. Gate 27 is the Sacral's drive toward genuine caring - not abstract compassion but the specific, immediate tending of particular people and beings in the person's direct field. Gate 27 connects to Gate 50 (Values) in the Spleen via the Channel of Preservation. The Nurturer operates through splenic intelligence: instinct-based care, the body sensing what needs tending before the mind has articulated why. The Motivator aspect: the care often activates others. It is not passive nourishment - it moves people toward becoming more than they currently are.
Provocateur
Gate 59
Gate basis: Gate 59 - Sexuality (Dispersion) The Provocateur breaks through barriers - particularly the barriers to genuine intimacy and connection. Gate 59 is the Sacral's drive toward the dissolution of what separates self from other. The Provocateur creates the conditions for genuine contact by removing the polite distance that keeps people separated. Gate 59 connects to Gate 6 (Friction) in the Solar Plexus via the Channel of Mating. The Provocateur operates in this field: creating the friction that opens rather than simply disrupts. When correct, the challenge is chosen and timed right.
Witness
Gate 13
Gate basis: Gate 13 - The Listener (Fellowship) The Witness holds space - listens without judgment, receives what others carry, reflects back with clarity and care. Gate 13 is the universal confessional: others instinctively feel safe to open up in this person's presence. The Witness can hold the full weight of another person's story without collapsing under it. Gate 13 connects to Gate 33 (Retreat) in the Throat via the Channel of the Witness. The Listener receives what is shared; Gate 33 provides the voice for sharing the distilled wisdom of that listening at the right moment.
Vessel
Gate open
The Vessel holds space. Embodies the field. Makes it possible for others to be more fully themselves in their presence. Not by producing anything specific, but by the quality of their receptivity. This is not a passive role. It is active, conscious holding. The Vessel does not contribute by generating fixed output. They contribute by being genuinely open and present. The Vessel's openness is the gift. In a room full of defined, fixed people, the Vessel's capacity to take in, reflect, and hold multiple things simultaneously creates a rare kind of space.
