Planets
The thirteen bodies that activate gates, and what each one carries.
13 terms
Earth
Planet · Grounding
High influence. Grounding, embodiment, the stabilizing counterpart to the Sun. Always directly opposite the Sun, 180 degrees away. Together the Sun and Earth form the central axis of the Incarnation Cross. What you consciously push against in order to stand upright. The ground others feel under you, whether or not you feel it yourself.
Jupiter
Planet · Expansion
Jupiter carries law, protection and the reward that follows from living correctly. In a chart it marks where things expand and where good fortune tends to land, though the classical reading is narrower than the modern one: this is less about luck and more about the principle you are here to uphold. In the Personality column it is the law you consciously follow. In the Design column it is the protection the body was born with.
Mars
Planet · Drive
Drive, action, the quality of individual initiative. How the person acts in pursuit of what they want. Often associated with the growth edge: the place matured into over time. How you consciously go after what you want. The immaturity worked out in public, and grown out of over years.
Mercury
Planet · Communication
Mercury is communication. It marks what you are here to say and what you need to talk about, which is not always the same as what you find easy to say. In the Personality column it is the conscious subject matter, the thing you return to in conversation. In the Design column it is what the body communicates without deciding to, often noticed by other people before it is noticed by you.
Moon
Planet · Drive
Significant influence, especially in the Design column. Drives, unconscious motivations, cyclical patterns. Conscious emotional drives: the pull you can name. Deep unconscious drives, often felt as compulsions or as themes that keep returning.
Neptune
Planet · Dissolution
Transcendence, dissolution, the principle of merging. Where the boundaries between self and other become thin. Generational in its pace. Where you notice the edge between yourself and everything else thinning. Where you dissolve into a room without deciding to.
North Node
Planet · Direction
Direction of the life's movement. Where the life is oriented as it unfolds. A conscious sense of the direction the life is turning toward. The unconscious trajectory: where the body is already heading.
Pluto
Planet · Transformation
Transformation, depth, the principle of complete change. Where the life encounters what cannot be left the same. The slowest of the thirteen, and the most generational. What you refuse to leave unchanged. What gets transformed in you whether or not you consent.
Saturn
Planet · Structure
Structure, discipline, limitation, the boundary principle. Where the person is working to build something that endures. The discipline you know you are choosing. The limit that shapes you before you agree to it.
South Node
Planet · Foundation
What is being left behind, what was established before. The foundation that both supports and can limit. Opposite the North Node in the chart. The ground you know you are leaving. The foundation laid before you could choose it.
Sun
Planet · Identity
Approximately 70% of the chart's influence, combined across both columns. Core identity, life force, primary conscious and unconscious drives. The gate you most consciously identify with. Ask a person what they are like and they tend to describe this gate. How others experience what is most you, before you recognize it yourself.
Uranus
Planet · Mutation
Mutation, disruption, the principle of the new. Where unexpected change tends to enter the life. Moves slowly enough that it marks a generation as much as a person. The change you can see coming. The disruption nobody scheduled.
Venus
Planet · Values
Values, what is valued, aesthetic sense, relational bonds. What the person finds beautiful and worth holding onto. Your conscious sense of what is worth keeping. What others read as your taste, before you have named it.
