Gate 12 · Caution

Gate 12 governs the voice when it comes to emotional experience. Not all feeling needs to be spoken. When something is spoken, the timing and the framing must be right. This gate holds until both are. Gate 12 sits in the Throat and connects to Gate 22 in the Solar Plexus via the Channel of the Prodigal (12-22). This is the channel of social and emotional grace: the capacity to articulate inner states in ways that carry their full depth. The standstill in the I Ching name refers to the need to wait.
